Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions from candidates practising on NAATIMaster.

Is NAATIMaster part of NAATI?
No. NAATIMaster is an independent practice platform. It is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or operated by NAATI, and its AI scores are not official NAATI results.
Always use the official NAATI CCL information for current test rules, bookings, and results.
Which languages are available, and can I change my LOTE?
The LOTE list at sign-up is generated from the language catalogues currently published in NAATIMaster. When another complete catalogue is released, that language can appear as a choice without changing how existing languages work.
You can change your selected LOTE from My Preferences. New dialogues, mock tests, vocabulary, phrases, and Smart Review will use the newly selected language. Earlier attempts stay in History with their original language code, such as UR or HI. Language-specific Smart Review progress is also preserved if you switch away and later return.
What is the difference between a dialogue and a mock test?
A practice dialogue is one conversation worth up to 45 marks. A mock test joins two different dialogues into one test-style run, worth up to 90 marks in total.
NAATIMaster's mock timing follows the performance itself: published source playback and all genuine recording attempts count, while navigation, uploading, transcript review, and scoring time do not. If the final recording for a segment starts at or after the 20-minute performance mark, that segment receives zero in NAATIMaster's practice model.
What score is needed to pass the real CCL test?
NAATI currently states that a candidate needs at least 63 out of 90 overall and at least 29 out of 45 in each dialogue. The pass marker shown in NAATIMaster reflects those published rules.
NAATIMaster scores remain estimates, not official results. Check NAATI's current CCL information before your test in case its rules change.
How is my audio handled?
When you record a segment, your microphone audio is uploaded to NAATIMaster's backend. It may then be processed by services that support transcription and scoring. The final recording is also analysed for timing and delivery signals, and the reviewed transcript is used for language and accuracy assessment.
Recordings are kept for up to 30 days so you can play them back in your reports, then they're deleted. You can edit the auto-generated transcript during review if it misheard something. The latest recording is used for transcription and scoring; earlier genuine attempts still count toward performance time and repeat usage.
Why doesn't my camera record anything?
It's not supposed to. The webcam preview during practice exists to help you get used to an online test setup that includes camera monitoring. It is a local preview, not a recording feature.
NAATIMaster never records, uploads, or stores webcam video. Only your microphone audio is used for scoring — your camera feed never leaves your device.
How accurate is the AI scoring?
AI scoring is a practice estimate for tracking progress and spotting recurring issues. It is not yet backed by a published expert-scored accuracy benchmark, so treat it as structured practice feedback rather than a prediction of your actual CCL result.
The scoring model itself is our own — built by NAATIMaster and informed by publicly available NAATI CCL marking guidance, not licensed or provided by NAATI. It follows the same general shape as the real exam (accuracy, language quality, delivery, plus repeat/pause/time penalties) so practice here translates to the real test, but it is an independent implementation, not an official one.
What is included in each plan?
Free includes two fixed practice dialogues, each recordable, reviewable, and AI-scored once. It also includes one fixed mock test that can be recorded and reviewed but not AI-scored, plus a quarter of each vocabulary and phrases domain and the matching Smart Review cards. Free does not include offline Anki deck downloads or re-scoring.
Pro unlocks all dialogues, the full vocabulary, phrases, Smart Review library, and offline Anki decks. It includes 10 dialogue scorings per weekly subscription period or 30 per monthly period, plus three complete mock-test scorings per period.
Ultra includes everything in Pro, removes the subscription-period scoring quotas, and adds the full report. Rolling fair-use limits still apply. The pricing page and plan section show the current price and allowance details before you subscribe or switch.
How do Smart Review and offline Anki decks work?
Smart Review uses the same official vocabulary and phrases shown in the study library. It schedules cards from both language directions and adapts future reviews to your self-ratings. It does not record audio, call an AI service, or use a scoring allowance.
Free users can review the included quarter of each domain in the app. Pro and Ultra users can review the full library and download the vocabulary and phrase Anki decks for offline study.
What does the Ultra full report include?
For each scored segment, the Ultra report includes the original prompt transcript, your reviewed transcript, an optimal interpretation, detailed feedback, and playback of your own recording while that audio is retained. Candidate audio is kept for up to 30 days; the transcript, score, and feedback remain in History while the account remains open.
An optimal interpretation is a study reference, not the only valid way to interpret a segment. Accurate and natural wording can differ.
Can I re-record or re-score an attempt?
You can record a segment more than once during an attempt, up to the in-app limit. The latest valid recording becomes the one transcribed and scored, while earlier genuine attempts still contribute to performance time and repeat usage.
Free attempts cannot be re-scored. Pro and Ultra allow up to three successful re-scores per dialogue attempt. Pro's first re-score is included; later re-scores use the applicable scoring allowance. A failed scoring run does not consume a successful re-score or settled scoring allowance.
What are the paid fair-use limits?
Pro and Ultra can save up to 100 dialogue attempts in a rolling 24-hour window. A standalone dialogue uses one saved-attempt slot and a full mock reserves two. When fewer than the required slots remain, you can still rehearse locally, but that run is not uploaded, transcribed, reviewed, or saved in History.
Ultra's unlimited scoring is subject to 50 AI scoring calls per rolling 24 hours. A full mock score or whole-mock re-score uses two calls. At that limit, reviewed attempts remain saved for later scoring; changing plans does not make a currently exhausted rolling window available sooner.
What happens if I cancel or change my subscription?
Cancelling stops automatic renewal. Your paid access continues until the end of the current subscription period.
Changing tier or switching between weekly and monthly billing takes effect immediately. The replacement plan starts a fresh subscription period and allowance, the previous subscription is cancelled, and unused allowance from it does not carry over. The app shows this before you confirm the change.
Can I get a refund?
NAATIMaster does not offer change-of-mind refunds for unused time, unused scoring allowance, or cancelling partway through a billing period. Cancelling stops future renewals, but the current paid period ordinarily runs to its end rather than being refunded.
See our Terms and Conditions for the full policy. Nothing here limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
Account deletion cancels an active subscription and removes the account and associated practice data through a recoverable deletion workflow. Pending recordings stored in that browser for interrupted-upload recovery are also cleared for the account.
Limited records may remain temporarily in backups, deletion-recovery systems, or service-provider systems, and payment or transaction records may be retained where required by law or for accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.
